We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance and Operations to be a strategic thought-partner reporting to the Executive Director. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, participative manager actively involved in day-to-day operations while leading an internal team to support Accounting and Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, Broadcast Operations and IT.

You will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as Iowa Public Radio continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE:

$125,000 - $155,000 per year

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field;
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of overall professional experience;
  • Successful track record in project management and problem-solving;
  • Ability to translate financial concepts to – and effectively collaborate with – programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds;
  • Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors;
  • Management of multiple functions inside an organization;
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
  • A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment; and
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and dedication to the mission of Iowa Public Radio.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA and/or CPA;
  • 6 plus years of financial and operations management experience;
  • A track record in grants administration and management;
  • Experience executing final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for an organization; and
  • Successful track record in setting priorities; keen project management, analytical and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.
